A major role of the Coast Guard Auxiliary is to provide boating safety education to the American public with the aim of reducing loss of life, personal injury and property damage to recreational boaters; and to deliver the highest possible quality training, resources and timely materials in support of our flotilla instructors and public education staff officers at every level who are furnishing such boating safety education. For more information, contact the Flotilla 19 Commander or if you are interested in attending a USCG Auxiliary-sponsored boating class, you will find descriptions of the various classes and their availability on the USCG Auxiliary District 13 Website.

Vessel Safety Checks
2010 VSC Decal
The distinctive Vessel Safety Check (VSC) decal displayed on a vessel indicates that it has been given a free courtesy examination by a trained specialist from the U. S. Power Squadron or USCG Auxiliary. The VSC is not a boarding or law enforcement activity and no citations are issued as a result of the examination.  You will be supplied with a copy of the evaluation so you may consider the suggestions given during the examination. You can also conduct your own vessel safety check before requesting a courtesy vessel examination at the Virtual VSC website.  When you are ready for your vessel safety check, contact a VSC examiner in your area at the “I Want a VSC” website.
